Jeanna's parents invited the whole family to share a beach house with them in Oceanside. We were there all of 20 minutes before we decided that we wanted to make this an annual tradition.

The property was perfect, and the view was great.

Jake did the cutest thing today. I was folding laundry in the front room while he was watching dora. Then I got up with a pile of folded laundry to go put it away. Then I heard jason say 'here comes a helper'. So I turned around and jake was carrying his folded clothes. Jason didn't even say anything, jake just did it on his own and while he was watching dora I might add. Anyway I thought it was so cute I tried to re-create it, thus the blurry picture.

So jake totally understood the concept of presents...he kept saying 'open more presents?' also we got him a small train set and after he had been playing with it for about 15 min. Today Sam is 6 months. I can't believe it. It seems like I just had him. His personality is really starting to come out. We had so much fun with him in san diego since he was the only child for a few days (jake stayed with ma ma and papa).

Some unique things about sam:
**Sam is so happy.
**He loves to kick and splash in the tub...and when he kicks he keeps his arms straight down so it looks like he's river dancing...its so cute.
**He also moves his head from side to side like he's singing a stevie wonder song.
**when he's tired he will turn his head to the side and just fall asleep. If I'm putting him to sleep I just have to cover his face with the blanket and it takes seconds for his eyes to roll back and close.
**he can win any staring contest

**His long perfectly curled eyelashes

**that he's wearing 12 month old clothes!!
**i love how he falls asleep on my shoulder with his mouth open.
**i love how he smiles at me when I come and get him after he wakes up.
**he is just such a good baby. He really only cries when he's tired, hungry, or has a dirty diaper. What a sweet baby he is.

Go A's!!! (Oops, I mean Giants.) The Giants were hosting an LDS Family Night at the park this night, and a bunch of people from our ward went. It was fun, but it was an evening game...so that means we only stayed until the 2nd inning until our family (Jake) was ready to go home. But the train ride up and back was really fun too.

Sam just turned 5 months. He weighed 17 lbs at his 4 month appt (90th percentile). He has 5 deep rolls between his bum and his knees :) He is rolling over now, so if I leave him on a blanket for a few minutes, he will be in a totally different place when I come back. Becoming mobile is on the horizon. He is also more interested in playing with and sucking on rings and toys. Today he was babbling "blah blah blah" literally. He is still an awesome sleeper, so squeally and so happy.

Jake just turned 21 months and he is as fun as ever. He is such a good talker. He loves to say his ABCs whenever we go anywhere. He loves to read letters and numbers on signs, licence plates, etc. Some of my favorite things he says are "woim" for warm, "bettie" for better, and how he says "yeah" for almost everything you say in such a matter of fact way. "Jake do you want some fruit snacks?" "yeah"

He loves Baby Einstein movies and is so smart. He repeats everything we say or do even my frustrated sighs and comments like "oh my goodness". And he loves to give "squeezes" (hugs), to mommy, daddy, and sam, especially when he's stalling at bedtime. And it makes you feel so good when he says I love you. "I you much" He's such a sweet little boy!

Sam is 3 months...and he is getting to be quite a big kid. We weighed him the other day and he is almost 16 lbs!! He is such a good baby. He's a good sleeper and just really calm. He's trying to roll over and holds his head up pretty good. He has the cutest little smile. His face always lights up anytime someone comes over to talk to him.

Some cute things that Jake has been doing lately is that he is starting to sing along with his movies, and he calls balloons, "boobs". Jakes been really sick the past week with pink eye and really crusty boogies so we've been wiping his nose alot and his nose is really sore. After we wipe his nose we say "is that better?" And now he says "betta" everytime we wipe his nose even if we dont ask him the question. Its really cute but sad that he's so sick. He also says his cousins names constantly throughout the day...Ellya (Ella), Abes (Abe), and Matts (Max), and he says Aunt She-ie for Aunt Shelly every time he sees a mini van. He loves his cousins. Jake also calls his bottle "bottlelala" and sticks out his tongue as he says the L's. Its pretty funny. He also says "Idun-no" (for "I dont know") just randomly throughout the day. He's pretty smart. He loves to do his ABC flashcards and he knows all his letters and sounds. When he says ABC's, he says the "a" like in cat, not "A" like in plate.

New Home!

We moved into a new apartment at the beginning of April. We live in the bottom unit of an old restored house in Belmont. And we love it! It is a nice/fun place to live... and the best part is that we live only a block away from work! (Cutting my daily commute from nearly 4hrs a day on the train, to just a 5 minute walk each way!)

I have to say I was proud of Jake's costume. I thought it turned out great especially since it was one of my first real sewing projects. I do have to give lots of credit to my MIL, Ruth Ann for helping me pull it off, Jason for encouraging me to do it, and Jody for the pattern and idea. Also thanks to Michael's for the easy print and iron-on sheets that I used to turn me into Wonder Woman and Jason into Green Lantern.

End of summer...or is it?

It's kinda sad when summer is over and we throw away the cheap plastic toddler pool, and baseball season draws to end. (This is a pic of us enjoying a DBacks-v-Giants game when we were in AZ.)

But the great thing about this summer ending, is...it has just begun! (At least weather-wise.) You see, our temps in NoCal this summer were WAY below average, but the last couple of weeks in Sept have been scrorchers!

So looks like we may have tossed out that pool too soon, as the weather is giving us an extension! (By the way, the Giants may be getting an extension on their summer too. They won the game that we went to, in extra innings. And it looks like there is a strong chance for some October games for them this year. 'Root, root, root for the home-team!')

Looking at what I just wrote, I've decided Jeanna will be happy about this post for two reasons: one, b/c she loves the hot weather, and two she loves discussions about the weather.

So Jeanna, this post (and this delayed summer) is for you!

Today michelle invited us to go swimming at grandma lewis's pool. It was jakes first time going swimming. The water was perfect (80+ deg). Jake had a great time. Jacob is growing so fast!
He can now crawl on hands and knees and hands and feet, pull himself up on most of the furniture and lower himself back down to his bum without falling. He can roll his 'r's better than some adults, loves to open and close doors, doesn't have any teeth yet (but I think he's working on it), he can clap, and is very vocal. It is so fun to watch him learn. What a sweet little guy he is.

I love this baby. This is why.

I love how...

**he leans his head on my shoulder when I'm burping him

**he nestles his head into my armpit right before he falls asleep

**he makes this "mmm, mmm" sound when he's sleepy

**he smiles at me when I come to get him after his nap

**sweet he is when he see other babies his age. He gently tries to touch them and smiles at them and tries to talk to them. Its really sweet.

**he smiles and laughs. And I love his long eyelashes

**he grabs Jason's cheeks with both hands spread open as if he's saying "look at me when I'm talking to you"

**he puckers his lower lip when he's about to cry.

**peaceful he looks when he's sleeping. I love to hold him when he's sleeping.

**he coos to himself as we drive or when he's playing by himself.

One funny thing: The other day we were walking with the stroller and Jacob tossed his binky out of the stroller. I picked it up dusted it off and gave it back and then a few minutes later after putting the binky back in his mouth, I noticed his hand reaching for the edge of the carseat with binky in hand. As soon as his hand was outside the carseat, he opened and released the binky. It seemed very delibrate to me. I guess he just didnt want the binky huh?? Is he too young for stuff like this?? It was pretty funny.

Bargain shopper??

So today I was a coupon shopper. Heres how it went. I went to CVS Pharmacy.

My friend emailed me a $5 off a $20 purchase coupon, (here it is-it expires 2/27/10 so take advantage of it) so I printed it off before I went to the store
Next I filled out their form for extra bucks (which only took about 30 sec, I was surprised). I guess you get points for spending money and free bucks later.

Then I found my items:

**3 boxes of Cheerios, reg price 2.99, on sale for 1.99 and I had $1 off so Cheerios were $1 a box, not bad.
**1 pkg of diapers, reg price 11.99 (for 80 diapers) I had a $1.50 off coupon so Diapers were $10.50 for 80 (about reg price-I think I use my other diaper coupons at Wal-mart).
**vitamins for baby $10
**air freshner $5
** then finally my $5 off $20 purchase.

So I spent $25 out of pocket which I thought wasnt too bad for an amateur. I figured that the vitamins, diapers and air freshner would've been $25, so I got my Cheerios for free :)!!It took some planning and help from my friend Nicky but I'd try it again. Thanks Nicky.

Btw I made a mistake...my diapers were $10.50 for only 40 diapers not 80...oops!! That would've been an awesome deal huh?

Isn't it funny how babies can make super loud screeching sounds, and still be so dang cute!

I mean, if you were at an office party, or friendly neighborhood BBQ, or something, and if while talking to an adult they started laughing/screeching like this, you'd probably think to yourself, "This dude has problems."

But with babies, it's just super cute... Especially when the kid is your own, right parents?

(In all fairness, if I were at an office party, or friendly BBQ, and was trying to get someone to laugh by dropping a pair of pants on them from the top of my head, I'm sure I would be judged as the dude with problems. And rightly so.)

Jason is awesome for many reasons but the reason I wanted to highlight today was that he did a 10K in the rain on Saturday. Not only was it rainy but it was a trail run so it was quite muddy too. We had to get up early and drive about an hour to get there. Jason even knew it would be rainy but wanted to run it anyway. And he loved it! I love that Jason loves to do these races rain or shine and I love going with him to watch and support. He just loves life and doesnt make excuses. Thanks for making life so fun. I love you Jas.

how fun it was to buy something off Craig's list?? Yes, its true, Jason and I have never purchased anything off of Craigs list. But today we did. It was so easy. We looked up the Bumbo chair this morning, found one in Gilroy, and picked it up later today. What great satisfaction is gave us to get this item for only $20. Normally its $35 for the chair and $10 for the tray for a total of $45. Jason said I should've tried to talk her down to $15 but I was happy with my purchase. Thanks Craig!

Jacob is 4 months old

This little guy is so much fun. Sometimes he giggles for no reason at all. I love it when he smiles at me... its the best thing ever!

Jake went to the doctor a few days ago for his 4 month check and shots. He did so good. He giggled when we took his clothes off and put him in the scale and then jumped around on the table and made loud happy yells all through his appt. He is such a happy baby. Here are his stats.

Weight: 13.9 lbs, 25th percentile
Height: 24.5 inches, 45th percentile
Head: 41 cm, 45th percentile

Jake loves loves loves to suck on his hands. He would put both hands in his mouth at the same time if he could. He has a cute little patch of hair on top and he's a pretty good sleeper overall. He loves bathtime and taking his vitamins. He does the cutest bicycle kicks when we pick him up. Its like he's trying to run away in mid-air. His favorite toy is either his Curious George doll or his ducky that buzzes when you pull the string. He's also ticklish on his feet and armpits and has the cutest little laugh. Well thats all for now. We feel so blessed to have him in our family.

So I originallytook these pictures today because I realized that baby Jake is getting bigger. This is Jacob next to the first sleeper that fit him as a newborn. Look how much he's grown!!

But after I took these pictures I realized they demonstrate how well our baby does Tai Chi. He is so fascinated with his hands and sometimes moves them very slowly and methodically in front of his face.

He's also a good dancer. "Stop! In the name of love!"

Jeanna and I went to 'Hole in the Rock' on our first date.

It was in August. It was 116 degrees. Fun, but 116! Ugh!Last month when we were in AZ for the holidays, we decided to go back to 'Hole in the Rock.'

It was the first time back since our first date. It was a nice sunny day, but this time only 58 degrees.

MUCH more pleasant.
Plus we were able to bring Jake along with us this time!

Butter.

Today I'm missing Butter.
.
Butter is one of the nicknames I have for Jake. He is called Butter partly because when he was a newborn, and was in need of a new diaper, he smelled like butter. He really did... it was that Movie Theatre Popcorn with Extra Butter kind of butter. Also, whenever we give him a bath in the kitchen sink, he reminds me of a Butterball Turkey. :)

Well, the last couple of days, Butter and his mamma are up in Folsom. They are waiting it out at Amber's place while my parents place is dusty and in disarray while a new kitchen is being put in.

So I'm going through Butter withdrawls. But Jeanna sends me pics every once in awhile from her phone. This was one of them.

So today I felt my first earthquake. It really wasnt very strong but I thought it was cool. I was in the house eating breakfast. I thought it felt similar to when someone slams the door hard enough to shake the whole house. It only lasted a second but it was definitely noticeable. So atleast I can say I've felt an earthquake after living in California for 2 years.
